Florida is a golfer's heaven. Citrus Springs Golf & Country Club puts any golfer's skill to the test. Strategically placed sand hazards, sloping fairways, and subtle greens, all kept with meticulous attention to detail, make this one of the area's nicer golf courses. Just minutes down the road, El Diablo ("the Devil") lurks. Voted one of the nation's best public golf courses, golfers will find this course a mighty challenge. Its rough is notorious, the greens slick and undulating, and the fairways beautifully immaculate. A bit further north is Rainbow Springs Golf & Country Club, which offers both a championship and 9-hole short course. Wide fairways and tricky greens keep golfers on their toes, but the splendid views of the natural environment make this truly a walk in the park.
For fishermen and boaters, the county is nothing short of paradise. Numerous waterways carve their way through the area, and all are accessible within a short drive of the Citrus Springs area. The spring-fed Rainbow River is renowned for its clarity and pleasant 72-degree year round temperature. Swimmers can relax on floats as the river's gentle current carries them downstream. Boaters can enjoy the quiet peace that hangs between the branches of hulking cypress trees and gaze into the river's sparkling waters. Also nearby are the Crystal River, Homosassa River, and Withlacoochee River. All of these offer some of the best freshwater fishing in the state. And don't forget the Gulf of Mexico along the coast where record-size tarpon have been landed. Kings Bay
